Bristol Women’s Voice event at City Hall 2nd March
Bristol Women’s Voice once again organised a fantastic day of activities including talks, workshops and performances. We were delighted to be part of the programme with printmaking, films, performance and a poetry workshop.
Activities provided by Art within the Cracks

Print Kitchen 11.30-1.30 in the Lady Mayor’s Parlour
with Andrea Morreau and Anna Haydock-Wilson
We taught nearly 50 people of all ages, most were first time artists, simple intaglio prints using a pasta maker. There were queues and we had to finish the workshop in the corridor!

Films by Women Artists 12-1pm Room IP01
An hour of women’s films about the things that are important to us, opening with Anna Haydock-Wilson‘s Art within the Cracks of Women’s Lives, an artists’ documentary, the line up includes work by Liz Hart & Sarah Corbett, Lizzie Philps, Emma Crouch, Maria Jose Carvallo, Emma Windsor, Heather Colbert and Roos Mataar.
Dance theatre performance 2.15pm in the Great Hall

Devised with support from Gill Simmons of Brave Bold Drama, choreographer Vic Hole of 2’Oclock Beauty Queens & film-maker Anna Haydock-Wilson through workshops during January and February 2019. To support the girls, who have never been on stage before, Vic Hole (pictured below left) performed a solo dance and Gill Simmons presented work-in-progress from her solo performance art piece Tethered about single motherhood.

3pm Poetry Workshop In Room IP04

We read and explored together Phenomenal Woman by Maya Angelou and Valentine by Carol Ann Duffy, learn exercises, write individual poems and share with others. We were encouraged to write a line each inspired by International Women’s Day and then we shared our lines and many crafted beautiful poems there and then. Others have taken away the words to play with.
Here is A Man’s Space by Mallika Khan, first time poet who we hope was inspired by the workshop to write many many more- thanks Mallika!
Rosy has decades of experience of working in education with women of all ages and backgrounds. She has written and published several books and anthologies
